Release 4.45 - 22nd November 2022

Road Map Updates

Bulk Upload Employers

As per our notification on the platform, we released two new reports on 15th November.  These have been made available to support usage of the bulk update functionality released on the 8th November:

1. Employer Report – more information is available here

2. Employer contact report – more information available here

Bulk Upload Applications

We are releasing the ability to bulk upload application stub record details. This can be found under Admin > Bulk Upload:

You will now be able to see the Application Base option if you have the right permissions. For guidance and a template CVS file click here.

Bug Fixes

  • For the trainer caseload where the old employer details were continuing to show after a change of employer, we have fixed this bug so that the new employer details are now shown.
  • OST applications: where a signed-up learner is on a programme that has since been archived, when viewing or editing the application the selected programme will be shown.

ILR Updates

  • Following customer feedback, we have made changes which will allow a Learning Support Funded visit (LSF) visit to be recorded on the same day as a Break InLearning (BIL) commences. Previously the LSF visit had to be recorded at least a day before the BIL commenced to be displayed in the support provision section.
  • We have added “Change of employment” to the existing list of BIL reasons. The new value will be available to select following the release and will be reportable:

  • We have addressed an issue where in a small number of cases learners who migrated into the system and had a previously recorded BIL were showing the length of break as “0 days” in their training plan. The correct length of break will now be displayed for these learners, you may need to complete the edit flow process for this change to be displayed.
  • In line with recent ESFA requirements, we have removed the restriction on the completion of the “Actual Hours” ILR field to allow a value to be recorded for learners who started prior to 01/08/19, remain in learning or on a BIL (CompStatus 1 or 6) and who previously had a “Planned OTJH” value present.

Learning Onboarding Programme

We have developed a new online training programme to specifically support your learners use the platform more effectively. Completing this short online training course is a great way for both new and existing learners to familiarise themselves with the features and functionality within Bud.

Where can this programme be accessed? Via the resource centre by clicking on the 'Welcome to Bud' heading as displayed below:

Once in this area learners will have access to the training programme which will load in an another tab outside of Bud.

Please note this course is completed outside of Bud and is not integrated into their individual learning plan in any way.

On the employer dashboard report the RAG status for your learners is included, if you do not have the RAG feature enabled you will now see the engagement status of your learners as an alternative (as displayed below) which will navigate you through to the engagement report.

IMPORTANT: Faster Data Warehouse Access

To improve the service Bud offers to our reporting users, we have now implemented a scale-out solution for the Bud Data Warehouse.

This means that behind the scenes, there are now two, fully synchronised servers available and a load-balancer will automatically pick the best one to fulfil your request.

If you haven’t already done so, please amend your Data Warehouse connection strings as follows:

In PowerBI Desktop:

  • Select the ‘Enable SQL Server Failover support’ under Transform data > Data source settings.

When reports are published to the PowerBI service, this will reduce the refresh times of your report in too.

Connecting from a client other than PowerBI:

We can tell the load balancer that we’re only reading data by adding the following to the connection string:  ApplicationIntent=ReadOnly

  • In SSMS this can be added under Additional Connection Properties:

  • Please note you must also specify the database name as well:

  • Azure Data Factory (ADF): Edit the relevant linked service, and add a new additional connection property:
