Creating an activity with Bud Assist

Overview

Create with Bud Assist drafts your activity descriptions for you, so you only need to enter a name to get started. Bud's AI tooling writes the descriptions using the context of your programme, and you stay in control: review the draft, amend it if needed, then approve it to create the activity.

This saves time when building out activities, and helps keep descriptions consistent in tone and structure across your programme.

What Bud Assist uses to write your descriptions

Bud Assist draws on the information already held against your programme, where it is available:

  • Activity name – the starting point for the draft, so a clear, specific name gives better results.
  • Programme of study – so the description fits what the learner is working towards.
  • Knowledge, skills and behaviours (KSBs) – so the activity reflects the relevant standard.
  • Your existing activities – so the tone of voice and structure match the descriptions you already use.

If some of this information isn't available, Bud Assist will still produce a draft, but it may need more editing before you approve it.

How to create an activity with Bud Assist

  1. Start a new activity as you normally would.
  2. Enter the activity name. The Create with Bud Assist button becomes available once a name has been entered.
  3. Select Create with Bud Assist. Bud Assist generates the activity descriptions for you.
  4. Review the draft descriptions, and amend anything you'd like to change (see below).
  5. Approve the descriptions to use them. Your activity is then created.

Reviewing, amending and approving the draft

The descriptions Bud Assist writes are a draft, and nothing is saved until you approve it. Before approving, check that the draft:

  • accurately describes what the learner needs to do
  • reads in the tone your organisation uses

You can amend any part of the text directly. Once you're happy, approve it and the activity is created with your final descriptions. You remain responsible for the content of the activity, so always give the draft a proper read before approving.

Tips for the best results

  • Use a clear, specific title. "Health and safety risk assessment in the workplace" will give a better draft than "Week 3 task".
  • Keep your programme set up fully. The more complete your programme of study and KSB mapping, the more relevant the draft.
  • Build on good examples. Bud Assist learns your style from existing activities, so well-written activities lead to better-matched drafts.
  • Always review before approving. AI-generated content can occasionally be inaccurate or miss detail specific to your learners.
