Qualification Achievement Rates (QAR)

Introduction

Bud’s Qualification Achievement Rates (QAR) Reports provide visualizations and data access based on ESFA specifications to help training providers monitor and analyze QAR. The reports include in-year and previous-year QAR calculations, with features like slicers and field pickers for detailed analysis. Users can upload ILR files for accurate calculations and track potential achievers to improve QAR.

QAR functionality is part of our enterprise offering, for more detail, please contact your customer success manager.

Uploading your files

In order to calculate the most accurate indicative Qualification Achievement Rates we require historic ILR files to mirror the ESFA calculation as closely as possible. To securely facilitate the transfer and storage of files we have an upload portal available to ILR Admin users.

Calculations

The calculations used in running your QAR are complex and sometimes difficult to interpret so we have provided a comprehensive guide detailing the calculations we run against your ILR data following the published technical specifications and QAR Rules outlined by the ESFA.

Report overview

Our interactive QAR dashboard is based on the calculations defined in the official QAR Specifications Published by the ESFA each year. The report includes both in-year and previous-year QAR calculations, allowing you to monitor both years running in parallel. (these will update on the 1st August each year to present the new academic year while retaining the previous years data.)

We also provide supplementary reports to aid in managing and reconciling your QAR as well as the ability to export two years of QAR data to CSV files for analysis and interrogation as needed.

Qualification Achievement Rate Values

This report contains two QAR value pages: one for the current year's QAR and another for the previous year's QAR. Both pages offer identical functionalities.

You can use the slicers and field pickers shown below to customise the graphs and data tables according to your needs.

  • Slicers: These tools filter the content displayed on the page.
  • Field Pickers: These allow you to view the data presented in the graph and table by different variables from the ILR.

By leveraging these features, you can efficiently analyse and explore the data in detail.

The data shown in the page shows the overall QAR value calculated for that QAR year against your desired variable. We also present a table of values used to calculate the percentage below the graph.

Potential Achievers

The potential achievers page details live learners who may impact your QAR should they achieve or withdraw before 1st August. This supplementary report gives you quick access to this golden pot of learners allowing you to focus on learners that could increase your overall QAR for the chosen year.

You can utilise the QAR year slicer to look at the current year or the previous year should you need to prioritise achievement processing during the cross-over period of R12-R14.

Overdue Breaks

This page shows you all learners that have been flagged as overdue breaks in relation to the QAR. It can be used to help prioritise break returns where they will impact at the end of this QAR year, or to look at the impact historic overdue breaks have had with your reconciliations.

EPA Monitoring

With a similar functionality to the potential achievers report, this supplementary report offers you insight into your learners in EPA, awaiting results or those who have completed without achievement allowing you quick access to data that is commonly reconciled or requested.

Exclusions

The exclusions page details all learners that have been flagged as an exclusion in the QAR calculation. Further detail of individual reasons can be found in the calculations article.
