Modular Learning in Bud

Introduction

Modules let you group activities and assessments into structured, bite-size units of learning. Instead of a long list of individual items, learners see their Learning Plan organised into clear topics they can work through. Modules are being released in stages, starting with the content library and extending to Learning Plans and programmes over the coming weeks.

Available now: build modules in your content library

Modules can be created in your content library by grouping published activities and assessments together. The same activity can sit in more than one module, so you can reuse content across different topics without duplicating it. Modules built now will be ready to add to Learning Plans and programmes as those releases land.

How to build a module in your content library.

Coming 10th November: modules in Learning Plans

  • Import modules into Learning Plans. Add a module from your library and all of its content is added to the learner’s plan in one go.
  • Set dates for the whole module. As part of importing, apply start and end dates to all content in the module in a single step, rather than one item at a time.
  • New Learning Plan views. Switch between a Modules view, showing content grouped by module with a status for each, and a Months view, showing content by due date. Trainers, learners and employers all see both views.
  • Exempt a whole module. Exempt every remaining item in a module in a single action, with a reason and comments. Content that is already complete, awaiting confirmation, or passed or failed is not affected.

Coming next: modules in programmes

  • Add modules to programmes. Import a module and all of its content into a programme, so every learner on that programme receives it.
  • Keep Learning Plans in step. Changes made to modules in a programme carry through to learners’ Learning Plans.
