The theme is made up of the below components
Recording Assessments
Our vision here, is to empower providers to design, record, and respond to on-programme assessments that drive personalised, data-informed learning experiences by differentiating between learning and assessment activities.
Our proposed solution is
- Introduce "Assessment Activities" that differ from existing "Learning Activities"
- Create & manage Assessments in the Activity Library and Programme Build
- Expand the Activity Library to be a Content Library
-
Assessments will have different information from learning activities, such as:
- Formative or Summative types
- Assessment location/booking details
- Outcomes/grades
- Feedback & recommended next steps
- Add Assessments directly to existing Learning Plans
- Supplement End-Point Assessment with on-programme assessment for completions
Updates
Our release on April 14th, will be the first to launch Assessments. For more information on what's included, see our release notes here.
Aim Management
Our vision for this is to provide a guided workflow allowing users to add, edit and remove additional learning aims directly within an ongoing learning plan. This will provide Training Providers with the flexibility to manage in-learning aims without manual workarounds or external support.
Our proposed solution is
- Introduce a multi-step workflow for aim management, initially covering Editing Dates, Exempt Aims, and then expanding to Add Aim actions
- Provide a guided UI that surfaces change consequences before they are committed, protecting data integrity
- Expand the scope of aim changes from single-learner (1-2-1) to bulk operations (1-2-many) where applicable
- Each change will capture structured data distinct from standard learner record edits, such as:
- Mandatory reason and evidence for the change
- Delivery owner assignment
- ILR field impact preview
- Immutable audit record
- Apply aim changes directly within an ongoing learning plan without manual workarounds or external support
- Establish a reusable pattern for future change-of-circumstance workflows (e.g. change of employment, Change of personal details, funding adjustments etc.)
The other components
Modular Learning - Creates a modular framework that reduces duplication and accelerates programme build.
Groups and presents learning in digestible chunks, known as modules in the Library, Programme build and the Learning Plan, to enhance clarity and engagement for learners and improve progress tracking for providers.
Flexible Content Management - Extending the Flexible Aim Management to allow providers to form a relationship between learning aims and content to enable flexible updates. For example, if exempting an aim then all learning content mapped to that aim will automatically be exempted in the learning plan. Or when adding a new aim, you can add learning content at the same time.
Enhanced Content Propagation – Introducing the ability to add, remove, or update content (modules/activities/assessments) for multiple learners at once with more configurable propagation options.
Content Configuration - More flexibility with content configuration, including flexible durations in days, weeks, and months; as well as the ability to provide specific configuration for activities, such as making submissions mandatory/optional, or enabling/disabling OTJH records for the activity.
Enhanced Metrics - Tracking against assessment outcomes and module completion gives a better indication of a learner's progress than a simple count of completed activities. Providers may want to switch between progress metrics depending on the scenario, so multiple options or configuration should be considered.
