Introduction
The Enhanced Support Plan, found on the Learner Support page of a learner’s profile, records how a learner’s extra support is planned.
It captures how the need was identified, why support is required, what support will be provided, who is involved and the impact if it is not provided. Plans can be marked as Support only or Funded support, helping providers evidence the planning behind any learning support funding they claim. With set review dates and the option to link delivery records, the plan forms the starting point of the graduated Assess, Plan, Do, Review approach expected by Ofsted.

Bud Recommends
- Existing plans remain unchanged until edited. When an older plan is next updated, the new required fields must be completed, so consider updating plans at their next review.
- Selecting Funded support does not update the learner’s ILR. Any learning support funding fields must still be recorded separately.
- Set realistic review dates and keep them up to date. Regular, recorded reviews are the clearest evidence of the Assess, Plan, Do, Review cycle during Ofsted inspection.
- Be specific in “Why is support required?” and “Who will be providing the support?”. Clear detail helps anyone picking up the plan and strengthens the evidence behind any funding claim.
- Use Additional evidence to upload supporting documents, such as screening results or professional reports, so the plan and its evidence sit together.
