Introduction
This article will explain how you can add custom content to the Apprenticeship and OST self-enrolment processes.
It will explain:
- How to add the content during programme build
- How the content will be displayed to learners
Please note that this is an Enterprise feature. Please speak to your Customer Success Manager about enabling it in your tenancy.
User roles
The following users will be able to add custom content to the programme build:
- Programme contributors
- Programme managers
Adding custom content to the programme build
You can add your custom self-enrolment content in the programme build of Bud. This is available for all programme types that have a self-enrolment process, including:
- Apprenticeship standards
- OST - AEB/ASF
- OST - Bootcamps
Where self-enrolment is not available for a programme type, the "Onboarding" section will not be shown in programme build.
When creating a new programme or editing an existing programme, the "Onboarding" section can be found at the bottom of the "Settings" tab. This section includes a rich text editor that allows you to add content and see how it will look on your custom page in the self-enrolment processes. Simply add your content to the editor and click 'save' on the page.
As it is a rich text editor, you can add styling to your content, including:
- Advanced styling and formatting, such as numbered lists and bullet-point lists
- Embedded images
- Embedded videos, via a link
- Hyperlinks to content outside of Bud
Please note that the programme will need to be published before the changes are visible to the learner in self-enrolment.
Editing your content
You can edit your content for a programme by using the edit programmes functionality. Please note this only applies to Apprenticeship programmes, not OST programmes.
Changes will only be applied and visible to the learner once the programme has gone back through the approval process and published again. Until it is published again, learners in self-enrolment will continue to see the previous content.

Where the content will be displayed
The custom content you add during programme build will be shown to learners during their self-enrolment process. As this content is programme-specific, learners will only see custom content during self-enrolment if you have selected the programme before the learner starts their self-enrolment. If you haven't selected the programme first, the learner will only see the generic Bud self-enrolment process.
Apprenticeship self-enrolment
If you have added custom onboarding content for an Apprenticeship programme, this will be shown as the final page of the self-enrolment process, after the learner has submitted their self-enrolment. This will either be after the "Communication Preferences" page or the "Skill Scan" page, depending on your self-enrolment configuration. It will replace the generic "Your Registration is Still in Progress" page. If you haven't added any custom content to your programme, or the programme has not been selected by the time the learner starts their self-enrolment, then the generic page will be shown instead.
As it is the final page, learners will be able to return to that page and view the content again if they later return to their Bud dashboard and click 'Continue to application' on the application tile. They will be able to return to this page up until the sign-up meeting is scheduled.

OST self-enrolment
For OST self-enrolment, the custom content will be shown at the top of the page as a new accordion dropdown.
Learners will be able to view this content throughout their self-enrolment journey and, like the apprenticeship process, will be able to return to the content after submitting their self-enrolment by clicking the 'Continue to application' button on the application tile, up until the application has been signed up.
