Overview
If you have Turnitin enabled, trainers can easily check learner submissions for plagiarism. This guide explains how to use the integration.
User roles:
- All users who can mark submissions, are able to submit to Turnitin.
How to: Send a submission to Turnitin
These steps are for Trainers to send a submission to Turnitin:
1. Access the Learner
2. Navigate to the Activity, with an open submission
3. Open the Submission and Messages tab
4. Click the ‘Send to TurnItIn’ button alongside the files you want to be assessed.
Note: if you have not previously sent a submission to Turnitin, you will need to accept the Turnitin End-User license agreement before the submission will begin. Simple read the agreement and click ‘I agree’ at the bottom of the popup window.
5. Await the completion of the assessment.
How to: access the Turnitin plagiarism report
These steps describe how to access the report once Turnitin has completed its assessment:
1. Access a submission that has already been sent to Turnitin
2. You will see the TII Similarity percentage alongside the 'View Report' button.
3. Click 'View Turnitin Report' to access the report
4. You can make changes within the report, to exempt matches. Changes will update the plagiarism % on the submission within 24 hours.
5. If required, you can download and attach the report to the Learner feedback.

- Under 100MB, fewer than 800 pages.
- In accepted formats: DOCX, PDF (with selectable text), PPTX, TXT, RTF.
- Contain at least 20 words of text.
- Avoid:
- Password-protected files.
- Image-only PDFs or scanned documents.
- Unsupported effects or macros.
