ILR - End Point Assessment (EPA) behaviors

Introduction

This article details the behaviors of ILR updates when a learner reaches the End Point Assessment (EPA) stage in Bud. Aimed at ILR Administrators, it explains how the system handles various scenarios, such as passing, failing, or retaking the EPA. The guide covers updates to key ILR fields like Completion Status, Outcome, and Achievement Date.

How to: Understand EPA logic in the ILR

We have made improvements to the way the ILR is updated when a learner reaches EPA and then subsequently passes, fails and/or retakes their assessment.

The updated ILR logic will apply to learners who have not currently entered EPA by the date of release (5/10/23).

The following ILR fields may be updated in these circumstances:

  • Completion Status
  • Outcome
  • Learning Actual End Date
  • Achievement Date
  • ACT Date To

Scenario 1: Apprentice enters EPA

Values updated in ILR:

  • Completion Status = 1
  • Outcome = 8
  • Learning Actual End Date = Gateway date

Scenario 2: Apprentice passes EPA

Values updated in ILR:

  • Completion Status = 2
  • Outcome = 1
  • Learning Actual End Date = Gateway date
  • Achievement Date = Pass date of EPA
  • ACT Date to = Pass date of EPA

Scenario 3: Apprentice fails EPA

Values updated in ILR:

  • Completion Status = 2
  • Outcome = 3
  • Learning Actual End Date = Gateway date
  • Achievement Date = Fail date of EPA
  • ACT Date to = Fail date of EPA

Scenario 4: Apprentice fails and returns to EPA

Values updated in ILR:

  • Values remain as in scenario 3

Scenario 5: Apprentice returns to EPA and fails a retake

Values updated in ILR:

  • Values remain as in scenario 3

Scenario 6: Apprentice returns to EPA and passes a retake

Values updated in ILR:

  • Completion Status = 2
  • Outcome = 1
  • Learning Actual End Date = Gateway date
  • Achievement Date = Fail date of EPA
  • ACT Date to = Fail date of EPA
