As part of our commitment to ensuring the Bud platform is ready for the new funding year in good time, we have started to introduce changes announced in V1 of the ILR specification document for the 26/27 academic year: https://guidance.submit-learner-data.service.gov.uk/26-27/ilr/summaryofchanges
Many of the changes we will be making over the next few releases will not be valid until after 01/08/26. Where this is the case, this will be marked with a “Valid from 01/08/26” label. A similar label of “Valid to 31/07/26” will be used in the case of deprecated fields.

A new Hours Record entity has been added to record hours data to support the expansion of hours data being recorded in the ILR.
This entity contains the following:
- Hours Type (HRSType)
- Hours Code (HRSCode)
- Hours Amount (HRSAmount)
The following types and codes are listed in this entity:
- HRS 1 Planned hours for off the job training of an apprenticeship programme
- This will be populated using the existing logic for populating the 25/26 "planned hours" field (on completing enrolment)
- HRS 2 Planned hours for a T Level programme
- HRS 3 Actual hours for off the job training of an apprenticeship programme
- This will be populated using the existing logic for populating the 25/26 "Actual hours" field (on completion)
- HRS 4 Planned hours for off the job training due to a reduction in prior learning
- HRS 5 The size of the Tailored Learning course
- HRS 6 Additional Delivery Hours
- HRS 7-10 Unassigned codes allocated
PLEASE NOTE: This field will auto-populate with data prior to 01/08/26 as part of the required migration of data for the 26/27 ILR schema. This entity WILL NOT be included in any ILR XML output prior to 01/08/26 when the entity becomes valid (i.e. it will only appear in 26/27 ILR exports). Planned Hours and Actual Hours values will auto-populate where recorded in Bud.
