How to: Determining Programme Cost

Once the training plan (formerly commitment statement) has been signed the status of the application will be updated to 'Committed' and the user will be taken to step 1 of funding. On this page, a user will enter:

  • RPL Reduction: A reduction to the maximum funding band to take into account any Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) reduction that may have been identified during the enrolment process.
  • Agreed Training Cost: Specify the agreed training cost agreed with the employer and, if applicable, apply further reductions to that agreed training cost as well as being able to provide evidence to support this.
  • End Point Assessment (EPA) cost: Record, if known, the EPA cost agreed by the employer and EPA provider.

The final section is the Programme Cost Summary which provides a clear “Total agreed cost of Apprenticeship” value. This value uses the following calculation:

  • “Training costs up to the new maximum funding amount” +
  • “Training costs above the new maximum funding amount. To be paid by employer” + “EPA cost”

Below is an example of the determining programme cost page:

If the apprenticeship is fully funded by the ESFA, or Levy Funded, a user will be taken directly to the 'Sign funding agreement' page.

If the employer has to contribute to the costs the user will be taken to the 'Payment options' page, where they can choose the frequency with which they're going to pay.

For more information on what to do if you’re accessing Levy Transfer, please see this article on selecting the appropriate source of funding.
